Well, I must thank you for sending Florida over. He's been managing dinners and helping take care of the littles. He's even got them eating their veggies. For a cookie bribe, of course. Maine makes time to be here. He helps with laundry. It's harder with Sigma caught up in York. I can't pull him away from York at a time like this, and it means he can check in on Omega for me.

Long story short: it's stressful, but our help is so amazing.

Glad you have others pulling their weight. I'm trying to stay close to Omega since he wants me to, but I can pull away and come to the house to help. Just say the word.

Don't. Well, okay, the littles would love to see you and be reassured. And they want to see Omega too but the hospital apparently has a problem with us bringing in so many children at once to 'bother' him.

Anyway, I know that if I was hurt and sick I'd want my protective big sis with me. I'd want Omega too, but I would understand his need to be with the younger siblings. Please, make any time for him you can. He shouldn't be alone. He hasn't been this hurt in a very long time.

We'll get the twins in. They aren't going to argue with me for long about that. Have they made him cards or anything?

And I'm making all the time for him I can. I'm not going to leave him alone in the hospital.

They're on their third draft of cards. Omega's bed is almost papered with them. Of course the twins are sharing a bed and Theta is in my room now for the sake of not being alone. They're shaken.

I want to set up a schedule. Rotate time between you, Sigma, myself, and Louisiana. Perhaps Florida and Maine as well. To make sure he's not alone but none of us are wasting away at his side. He would NOT approve.

Sigma's busy with York, you need to continue with your work and keep the household afloat, and Florida and Maine are already doing plenty. They're better off doing what they're helping with now.

No. Tex, he's my brother too. You... I know he loves you most, but you don't just decide things are going to work a certain way. We all care about him, and we all want all of us to get through this until he's home. Which means being able to sleep and work and do our normal lives. Don't make me ask him to help me argue the point.

Kid, he doesn't love me more. And the same goes for you, you don't get to decide people who aren't even related to us want in on a rotating schedule of hanging around him at the hospital. How about you find out if the even want to do that before you try suggesting it?

Besides, he keeps asking for me. What are you going to tell him if I'm not around?

Yeah, just... Trying to get used to this whole having people worry about me thing, okay?

Yeah. That has to be really hard. But it is what family does, Beta. We worry about each other. We take care of each other. We support each other when no one else will. It's about unity and circular logic and the way people argue over waffles. That's life.

I'm figuring it out as I go. Haven't had a chance to argue about waffles yet, though.

They don't hate them because they are chocolate chips, but because they're in the waffles. Or pancakes.
