Did you know about Smithson before we started dating?

I did. He's done my helmet updates ever since I started working here in Gulch, and he was especially helpful after York's accident.

I knew about the York thing. I only just found out that he works a surprising about with mercs.

He's incredibly good and he's trustworthy. Both aspects can be hard to find in a mechanic. It helps that he's well-priced, too.

Well-priced is one way to put it. I'm handling the books now. Merc jobs tend to cost more because, well, more specialized parts and mods that have to come from suppliers in Charon's military subdivision. It's... sometimes questionably legal, but I'm starting to think that describes a lot of Gulch.

Life on Gulch does tend to be questionably legal, but Smithson's operations aren't nearly as bad as what the Wrench can accomplish. She charges significantly more, of course.

You haven't heard of her? She's the black market mechanic for helmets. Practically a legend. Nobody knows who she is, but she does incredible work for the few people who can afford it.

Very few, and very expensive. I'm more than satisfied with Smithson's work, so I've never bothered to seek them out.
