Well isn't that just sappy. And isn't he just a sucker for said sap. The grin on his face is a little dopey even as he sits back and thanks the waiter for their food.

"I'm familiar. Want to go there some time?"

"I'm saying a picnic on a beautiful night like tonight might not be amiss."

What? It's a cute idea and he's trying to be vaguely charming here.

He can't help but grin. "Yeah? Wanna get this to go and see if the stars are out?"

[protective_logic]

"I think I do. Just... you know, for good company."

And he's smiling because this night has been good and it can get better.

"Indeed you are." He winks and flags down one of the passing waiters.

"Sorry for the bother, but could we get this to go please? Thank you."

The waiter frowns and Delta produces a larger tip and smiles. That gets the young man to rush off.

"I think we're going to have some fun."

"I think we are." He adds a little more to the tip and thanks the waiter again when he comes back with their food boxed up before gathering it up and offering his free hand to Delta.

"You've tested them, now for the real thing?"

"Yeah, the real thing," Delta agrees, lacing his fingers with York's and grabbing his drink with his free hand. Sorry York's drink, you might get left behind.

The trade off for the handsome man by his side is worth it. Grinning, he leads them out of the restaurant and into the cool night.

"Nice and clear. With less light pollution at the park, we might be able to see more stars."

"I think I've already got my eyes full of enough stars for now," Delta counters, his voice soft. Smitten? Yes, he's already there.

Damn. Smooth. York can't help the slight chuckle that escapes him, but it's a soft sound. "Charmer. But you seem brighter than any of them."

And here is a guy that has never been on a date before, so that's impressive. Must be natural talent. Add in his blush and he must be captivating.

"You really think so?

"Yeah, I do." It may have only been one night so far, but he needed only a moment to see that Delta was beautiful. And every time he smiles or blushes or laughs, he just becomes more so.

Cumulative beauty? Delta didn't know that was a thing. What he did know was that this food was going to be great, and once he makes it to the edge of the sidewalk he carefully looks out over the road. With it clear he starts across the street for the small park.

"Perhaps you're not wrong."

He chuckles and squeezes Delta's hand lightly as they cross the road, heading towards the park once they reach the other side, set a little ways back from the road to lessen the sound of traffic. A few path lights shed dim light as they head into the area.

"Where do you fancy sitting?"

Well, the benches seem like a really bad idea, so Delta considers the parts of the park he can see from there.

"There's an opening nearby, a nice little clearing. We can put my coat down as a blanket."

"Think I know the one you mean. Sounds like a good spot and happy to add my own jacket if need be."

[protective_logic]

Well, that worked for him. Delta smiled and made his way toward a good spot, pulling York with him. And maybe squeezing that hand in his lightly.

“Here,” he decides at last, coming to a stop.

"Looks good." Not in pitch blackness, but away from the path enough to give them some privacy.

[protective_logic]

Well then, Delta sadly lets go of the hand and shrugs out of his coat to put it down, sitting as well.

"Like you do."
